High Blood Pressure (Hypertension)

 

Regarded as the silent killer and the biggest menace of the present generation, it happens when blood pressure crosses the systolic pressure i.e. the highest pressure reached during each heartbeat.

  • Pain experienced at the back of the head and neck on waking up, which soon disappears.

  • Stress and hectic life-style.

  • Vitiation of vata

  • Smoking and an excessive intake of intoxicants

  • Excessive intake of common table salt

  • Overloading of fast foods

Diet
  • Food should be consumed either raw or 
    steamed. Amount of oil(olive oil or mustard oil ) in the food should not exceed one or two tea spoon a day.
  • Avoid excessive salt(not more than one tea spoon a day).
  • Follow the following vegetarian diet:
    Vegetables: Garlic, lemon,parsley,
    Fruits: Indian Gooseberry,Grape fruuit, watermelon,
    Dairy: Milk,Cottage cheese,clarified butter.
  • Avoid alcohal and smoking.
  • Coffee should be avoided. Tea can be taken in moderation (twice a day) .

  • Should get 8 hours of sleep
  • Proper rest is of primary importance
